Welcome!
My name is Shelly Orzechowski and I am proud to represent Oakdale Elementary
School as the 2008-2009 PTA President. As a returning
parent at Oakdale, I am sure you will agree that we are truly
fortunate to belong to such a wonderful school community.
Our role
in the PTA is one of support. We are an organization separate from the
school which provides support to the administration, staff, teachers,
parents, and students in as many ways as possible. We are made up of
PTA officers and members who decide and vote on programs, activities,
supplies, and funding. We are able to provide these wonderful
enrichment and support opportunities because of our dedicated parents
who volunteer to organize and implement such programs.
We are an
active participant in fostering better communication between the home
and the school and publish a monthly newsletter to help all families be
aware of important information. The most recent edition can be found on
this website. Our annual school directory helps parents and teachers
communicate with each other. We also try to disseminate as much
information as possible at the school functions to keep all our Oakdale
families in the loop. This very website is a way in which we hope to
reach all parents and guardians.
One other
very important role our PTA plays is one of advocate. Our collective
school PTA voices join together to make a powerful presence when
advocating on behalf of our children. We gain strength with every PTA
member, adding numbers for our PTA leaders to lobby regarding local,
state, and national education issues, such as curriculum, funding, and
building.

website. You will find more detailed information about programs,
activities, and volunteer opportunities. If you are interested in
becoming a member, simply print out the form, enclose your membership
dues, and send them to school with your child.
